Boiling of the Frog: Turn the Heat Up Real Slow

Once you’ve made the decision to turn your health around and get educated a bit about nutrition you have a decision to make. Okay, a lot of decisions. First of all, your success begins with a plan. Doesn’t mean life won’t take some turns along the way however…
Case in point: I tried to change my kids’ diet once. I was met with fierce resistance. So, being the planner, I did the boiling of the frog effect. Gradually I added in one meal a week. Vegetarian tacos, then buffalo burgers, baked fries instead of deep-fried, etc. I was lucky I didn’t have to wean them off of sugar water (soda) or chips. Junk food was rarely allowed in the house. I knew it wouldn’t help their bodies grow nor keep them healthy.
When I was growing up we considered ourselves lucky if mom (or whomever the caretaker was at the time) brought home chicken pot pies. And we loved Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup. Needless to say, (and fortunately for us) there weren’t many commercial options for the busy mom or dad like there is today.
As kids we wanted the junk food. Oh yea, I bought into the TV commercials. Tony the Tiger had it going on, that Lucky Charm dude, not so much. The bet ‘cha can’t eat just one (chip) always got me. Loved those chips, still do. But today’s chips, unless they’re organic, are toxic waste.
I was one of the lucky ones, I come from a long line of gardeners. Everyone ate real food when I was growing up. There were no deli’s and very few fast food places. Junk food wasn’t the norm, but looking back I can see the brainwashing had begun.
Consumer manipulation by the industrial food industry was gearing up to take over the country and the world. Today their stranglehold is threatening our health and our lives. Billions of taxpayer dollars are subsidizing the sick care epidemic, yet most seem oblivious to the fact that what they are eating is creating the problem.
If you want to break the processed/industrial food habit, you've got to understand you didn't acquire it by accident. Decades of corporate propaganda have poisoned the public mind via television, magazine, newspapers, radio and the internet.
You are the frog, and your boiling (conditioning) began the moment you were born. For decades the industrial food industry has used subtle psychological persuasion to get you (the frog), to believe you desire their products, regardless of whether you want or need them. The majority of consumers have become pawns of the corporate elite.
To help you break free from the clutches of the corporate elite and get you started, we’ve created a wellness journey map. It’s a journey that will open your eyes to the importance of getting your mind and body right. Because without that awareness it’s doubtful you can kick the junk food and stay on a path to health & wellness.
