…More Than a Pie Hole

And sometimes we bite off more than we can chew.

My dad used to say, “Your eyes are bigger than your stomach.” Huh? How’s that? Didn’t take long to figure out I’d better take only what I was pretty sure I could eat.

Food can be an obsession, I know. Especially today with all the choices.

You better be sure you know what you’re going after when you step through that door. It can be overwhelming; shelves piled high with brightly colored boxes, so tempting…

You take your stash home, hunker down on the couch like a kid with his fireworks booty. All excited you rip open the bag, grab a handful and put as much as you can into your mouth wondering if you may have overshot it a bit. Silently thinking, “Sure glad no one’s around, unless I happen to choke” …

But it tastes so good. Brain chemicals are going off like a heroin addict getting his first shot for the day. And it feels so good…

Now what if you had a mirror in front of you? What then? Would you stuff your face repeatedly, barely chewing and breathing between bites?

What if you looked into your eyes and remembered there was an actual person in there? I know, you’re thinking I’ve lost it. Maybe...

Why not try it and see what happens? Take a bite of your favorite junk food and look into your eyes. I dare ya. What do you see? What do you feel?

Can you see you are more, much more, than just a pie hole?
