Never Leave Hungry
We’ve all done it. Sometimes it works out, but mostly it’s a recipe for disaster.
You’re in a rush or maybe you get sidetracked. Hungry is a bad place to be when there’s nothin’ to eat. You’re really in trouble if you’re in the grocery store.
You could grab a bag of chips if you want to go down that road. Or some candy. Maybe you stumble over to the deli where you find it hard to think because your stomach is roaring so loudly. And the smells… You can’t take it anymore. What do you do?
If you’re used to eating “junk food,” it’s a no-brainer. Anything will do to fill the gnawing void.
But what if you want to eat something healthy? Maybe you’re not addicted to junk food (oh, yea, processed food has a zillion chemicals to keep you coming back for more. MSG is a good example) and you’re desperate to find something that will fill you up and NOT make you ill.
And you will get sick if you’re not used to the junk.
Recently while on a shopping trip with my sister, I found myself hungry, no, starving. I felt like the proverbial lost mariner floating on the ocean, “Water, water, everywhere and not a drop to drink.”
I didn’t pack my bag of snacks like I usually do; apple, bananas, green drink or smoothie…
As we were driving by Taco Tyme, I told my sister about the last time Rick and I went there. $23 dollars later and sick to our stomachs, we made a pact, “Let’s never go there again.” My sister jokingly replied, “Yea, that’s expensive crap. If you’re gonna eat crap food, you might as well eat cheap crap food!
What’s the moral of the story?
Plan ahead. Eat before you leave. Take some fruit, nuts & raisins, or other healthy snack. It’s a jungle out there.
Food: The good, the bad, the ugly…
